Cultivar is a California wine brand rooted in the idea that great wine deserves great context. Our Chestnut Street location is a fully equipped kitchen with a full liquor license, ready for a culinary partner who sees food, wine, and local spirits as a single conversation — not separate menus. We are open to the right employment arrangement or a deeper partnership. What matters most is your vision and your energy.

This is not a role for someone who wants to execute someone else’s playbook. You Are:
- A chef with a defined culinary point of view and the confidence to own it
- Genuinely excited by wine and food pairing — not as a formality, but as a creative opportunity
- Curious about cocktails, local spirits, and how a full bar program elevates the dining experience
- Full of ideas: for menus, events, collaborations, and making Chestnut Street a destination
- Energetic, entrepreneurial, and ready to build — not maintain
- Experienced running a full kitchen and leading a team with high standards

Cultivar Ghirardelli Square is a California-focused winery and tasting room at one of San Francisco’s most visited destinations. We welcome guests from around the world and introduce them to wines that reflect the character of the land. We are a hospitality-first team that takes both wine and people seriously — and we’re looking for someone who does too.
The Role – Are you the person strangers can’t help but stop and talk to?
We’re looking for the person who turns a Tuesday afternoon stroll into an unforgettable afternoon — who spots someone wandering the square and somehow, 20 minutes later, they’re sipping a Cab, laughing, and asking about the Wine Club.
That’s the magic we’re after. And it has to come naturally to you.
You’ll be our face, our energy, our first impression. You’ll pull people off the square (in the best possible way), make guests feel like regulars, and make regulars feel like family. You’ll bring ideas, not just enthusiasm — real thoughts on how to grow something special in one of San Francisco’s most iconic spots.

What You’ll Do
- Step outside and actively engage foot traffic — Ghirardelli Square is your stage
- Create memorable tasting experiences that guests talk about long after they leave
- Convert guests to Wine Club members through genuine connection, not a script
- Bring ideas: local partnerships, events, social moments, anything that drives visits and sales
- Drive by-the-glass and bottle sales through confident, knowledgeable recommendations
- Support events, private tastings, and special programming
- Collaborate with the team to push the business forward — no wallflowers, no coasters
What We’re Looking For
- Energy and initiative — you make things happen, you don’t wait for them to
- A genuine love of wine and the drive to share it with everyone
- Ideas — you’ve thought about how to grow a business and you’re not shy about it
- Prior hospitality, tasting room, or retail wine experience strongly preferred
- Sales confidence — natural, warm, and effective
- Strong communication skills and a commanding, welcoming presence
- Must be available to work weekends
- Must be 21+ and able to obtain RBS certification
